Derby's premier folk music venue... 

 

The Derby Heritage Traditional Music Club 

 

(affectionately known as 'The Gaol Folk Club') due to the unique nature of the chosen venue, The Old Derby Gaol!

We are here on the third Thursday of every month? (Except August.) 

Experience the best in live, traditional music performances from many of the leading local exponents (Chris Orme, Jack Crawford, John Titford, Bill Wilkes and Pete Burnham to name just a few.) 

 

Special guest appearances from top national and international performers to entertain, inspire and delight the audience and performers alike! 

 


Bring a song or two of your own if you wish - one of our main aims is to provide an opportunity for ordinary people to get up (or not) and perform an item - be it a song, a tune, a story, a dance (when there's room!) or even a joke! 

 


Or simply come and avail yourself of the 'entertainment' and renowned atmosphere and maybe sing along with the choruses!

We promise that you will not be disappointed and you will be made very welcome...

Sheffield - Edale Rambler FOLK TRAIN
The Folk Train is sponsored by The Rambler Country Hotel, Edale, Hope Valley and High Peak Community Rail Partnership (HVHPCRP), and Northern Rail. Performers are organised by Gerry Bates of The South Riding Folk Arts Network.The Folk Train runs on the fourth Tuesday of each month (not necessarily the last Tuesday!), departing from Sheffield (platform 2C - a long trek from the station entrance!) at 1914 (7:14pm) and returning on the 2128 (9:28pm) from Edale.
The Mart Theatre in Skipton

The Mart Theatre offers an experimental mixed programme of professional touring productions, workshops and events. The development is designed to provide an innovative and cultural facility in a rural area that aims to bring art and agriculture together in a creative response to the reality and future of rural and agricultural life.

Autumn 2005 saw the first performance in this newly refurbished auction ring with Jeremy Hardy. He performed to a near capacity house with whoops of laughter bouncing around the walls and everyone went home amazed at how intimate the space feels for 300 seater. Norma Waterson and Martin Carthy loved the feel of the space and thought it was fantastic for sound and are looking forward to hearing about a folk festival being developed as they thought it was a super venue and the first Family Christmas Show sold out of all but one of it’s performances.
